Andrea Garber, PhD, RD

Assistant Professor of Pediatrics,
Division of Adolescent Medicine,
University of California, San Francisco


Dr. Andrea Garber is a Nutritionist, with a PhD in clinical nutrition, and a Registered Dietitian (RD). As the Nutrition faculty in Adolescent Medicine, she teaches adolescent nutrition to Pediatric Residents and Fellows and conducts research on obesity and eating disorders.

Dr. Garber has several ongoing research projects, including a study of hypothalamic obesity and a study of adolescents with anorexia nervosa. In the clinic, she provides nutrition screening and counseling for patients and families. She is also in the coordinator for the UCSF pediatric obesity program, WATCH (Weight Assessment for Teen and Child Health), where she coordinates a team of practitioners and several ongoing research projects around childhood and adolescent obesity.

In the community, Dr. Garber serves on several advisory committees and is co-Chair of the City Wide Chronic Disease Prevention Consortium.
