Janet Wojcicki, PhD MPH is a fellow in the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition. She is an anthropologist and epidemiologist by training and previously completed a fellowship in HIV prevention and epidemiology at UCSF. Dr. Wojcicki has extensive research experience evaluating the relationship between sociocultural background, behavioral practices and heath outcomes. Currently she is working with Dr. Melvin B. Heyman to evaluate the relationship between maternal nutritional knowledge and child feeding practices including duration of breastfeeding and infant health outcomes such as birthweight. Dr. Wojcicki is also collaborating with Dr. Heyman and researchers in Tijuana, Mexico to evaluate the relationship between maternal nutritional knowledge, migration patterns and acculturation in risk for child overweight among school-aged children. Dr. Wojcicki currently serves on the San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) Physical Activity and Nutrition Task Force and is pursuing research related to nutrition in the children in the SFUSD.
