Welcome to COAST

Since 2004 the Center for Obesity, Assessment, Study and Treatment (COAST) is a research center that focuses on mechanisms through which stress influences weight status.  COAST brings together 30 members from across the UCSF campus from departments and divisions such as Department of Psychiatry, Medicine, Family and Community Medicine, Pediatric Medicine, Adolescent Medicine, Physiological Nursing, Family Health Care Nursing, Obstetrics, Gynecology, & Reproductive Sciences, Epidemiology and Biostatistics, and the Biomedical Sciences (BMS) Graduate Program, Neuroscience Graduate Program.  COAST members meet monthly for the Friday Seminars and work together on interdisciplinary, translational and cutting edge research.
